Carly speaks!
After all the articles copying and repeating themselves over and over again, someone finally decided to talk to Carly herself. About Gregg and Ultimate High: “Gregg pushed the envelope with the lyrics,” she said. “I thought it was a great, cool record. I listen to it to this day. It had some great tracks on it. He helped me find exactly what my sound was. I was pleased.” About the Wall Street Journal article: “One article can have such a snowball effect. They believed everything in it." Much more here.

It's about time, great article. Hey just noticed that if you look up her CD on Amazon they suggest buying Amy Winehouse, I guess they must think the Tattoos are a good enough musical link. "I tried to make me another record, MCA said no, no, no."

DaniBriseFAN- 02-21-2008

And speaking of Carly speaking, she came right out on last night's show and said that she had a record deal when she was a teenager in her little recorded segment before she sang. I was glad to see it put out there like that, rather than keeping it quiet.

CousinDave- 02-21-2008

Without a doubt. The head on approach is always best. I think now that its all out the little birds will go away...we hope. She sang well too. I think the little Hawaiian girl was a little better than Carly tonight but I think the song selection plays into some of that too. Carly is gonna take this well into the late rounds for sure.

I like what she said about MCA imploding. I hate all these 2 penny self-important bitter YouTube arseholes out there putting out The Truth about Carly type videos. The only truth is, is that those morons were too fucking dumb to know who the hell she was until now. So she had a record contract, like no shit dumbass, who had to die to make you a genius?

DaniBriseFAN- 02-22-2008

Exactly! And it's not like there are not now or have not been professional artists in the past. Maybe they didn't have a failed record deal, but they have/had paying gigs. She definitely did the right thing by putting it out in the open like that... yet making it brief. And she sang VERY well. She will go far and should at least get enough exposure to get noticed and be able to once again pursue a recording deal.

I think some people don't like that Carly is on the show because it's supposed to be for undiscovered artists without record deals, but then her deal bombed...so hey, why not? Plus she has an excellent voice :D Pablo

CousinDave- 02-27-2008

Not gonna matter now....after tonight the entire show has a new favorite, the young kid David who absolutely stopped the show with his rendition of "Imagine". They all but said the rest may as well go home. Its his contest to lose from here out. Carly has a long road ahead as she isn't even the best female. I still hope she does well but it didn't get easier tonight.

Pablo- 02-27-2008

Yes I just saw it, she had a good song and voice, but she has lots of other singers that are the bomb! :) Pablo

Not gonna matter now....after tonight the entire show has a new favorite, the young kid David who absolutely stopped the show with his rendition of "Imagine". My favorite song of all time and this kid did a beatiful job with it, didn't he???

My favorite song of all time and this kid did a beatiful job with it, didn't he??? I didn't like it. But then again, I hardly ever like Beatles/Lennon covers. Those songs are already so brilliant in their original versions, any cover is just gonna suck by comparison.

Not gonna matter now....after tonight the entire show has a new favorite, the young kid David who absolutely stopped the show with his rendition of "Imagine". My favorite song of all time and this kid did a beatiful job with it, didn't he??? Its being touted as the single greatest American Idol performance and it likely was. I was really impressed! I'm with Fritz regarding Beatles covers and not being fond of them but this was on the next level. When he first started to sing it, I noticed how his phrasing of the song was going to be different and I thought he was going to dig himself a big hole. Shows you what I know! He was unbelievable!

Thanks for the article update. It's really interesting what Carly has to say, and I can't help but feel for her. I was listening to Ultimate High today, and I still like it a lot!
