I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending - Errol Flynn?
I love this song, one of the reasons is that it tells a story that plays out very easily in my head. However, after the lyric "this is when she dies" and he talks about bringing a drug addict in, I have no idea what the hell he's talking about. I might be just an idiot, but what does shooting up his Cyanide mean, why does the nurse think he's Errol Flynn, and what does this have anything to do with the song?

Cyanide = poison Flynn = an actor Maybe it's just a simple play on words.

I knew Flynn was an actor too, but still what exactly going on here? Do they bring in the junkie to save the girlfriend, but decides to kill the man because he looks like a famous actor, and then blames it all on Greg just because he witnessed the whole thing? I don't see how this makes sense.

The whole on going story in the lyrics is that he is high, he can't tell what is real and what is not and that includes the girl. The only people to die in the story are the girl and her father. Flynn a romantic heart throb hedonist actor who also is accused of statutory rape but cleared, is used to describe either the look or the way the girl sees the junkie's character for giving her his fix. Then he says he gets blamed, could mean the girl blames him or accuses him of rape, her father's death, her death, everything, who knows. It could also refer to the old term "In like Flynn". The junkie (Flynn look alike) doesn't get killed at all and there is no nurse mentioned. Where did you get the nurse from?

Boneho Chane- 04-13-2008

Well I got the nurse from "they" brought the depressed junkie in. I assumed because they were at the hospital, "they" were like the nurses that brought him in or something. But now I'm more confused. The girl is raped? Whaaaa? I'm so dumb...

Titan- 04-14-2008

You've confused "they" (your assumed nurses, could be anyone, orderlies, police, ambulance staff, his family, friends) with "she" (the girl): I guess she thought it was Errol Flynn. It doesn't say they thought it was Flynn. There's no rape, I'm just guessing why they link Flynn, who was accused of it. As Freud would put it sometimes a pencil is just a pencil, well sometimes lyrics are just lyrics and don't have to make any sense, just enjoy them for what they are. :) If you really want a confusing part of this song try working out why he suddenly drives the father to hospital, when he's previously been using public transport (the bus and taxi). Why use public transport if you have access to a car? If he's broke why doesn't he sell the car? If the car belongs to the father why sell his body instead? Let's not even start on how the girl dies and then is alive again to take more drugs. Now I'm confused.

Okay, I guess I get what you're saying. When they said "shot HIS cyanide up" I thought Greg meant like the cyanide was meant for him. Like if Greg was singing about eating a pie and he said "ate HIS pie up", I would thought the junkie just ate the pie. But what your saying because it was the junkie who gave the girl the cyanide, it's technically HIS cyanide and that's all Greg was saying. So even if he had said, "ate HIS pie up", he meant the girl ate his pie up. Right, very confusing. But now he's the only thing I don't get... why the hell is the junkie brought into the hospital. What the ****?

No clue, but shot or shooting refers to injecting drugs, it's drug culture terminology. The drugs in this case belonged to the depressed junkie, who I guess is brought in for depression. His drugs, the cyanide are just a play on the old phrase "name your poison" I guess, which is used in drink culture terminology. It could also be that his drugs are just looked on as a poison that slowly kills it's owner. Why cyanide and not another well known poison, I guess the name just sounded better than other poisons and suited the other lyrics.

Howdy! Yes, the ending makes no sense at all...it's all confusing, but IT IS SUPPOSED BE LIKE THAT. I suppose (never have been thank you very much) when you are on drugs everything is confusing and you see things that aren't really there or you do stuff you shouldn't....I'm sure you've seen those kind of movies or listened to other music like that....
