in case this is useful to anyone, archive.org archived parts of the old newradicals.net it's best to go to the archive from May 03, 2006 (right before the website imploded) it's here-- http://web.archive.org/web/20060503092738/http://newradicals.net/ also, the script is messed up so to view all the text you need to to hit Ctrl+A to highlight all the text on each page. You can't really view the old forums though because you have to be logged in to view them and you can't log in from an archive, haha. oh by the way, does anyone want to explain to me exactly wtf happened to that website?

The short version of what happened is the old forum owner started the thing as a toy that he got tired of. He stopped even moderating it and then neglected it to the point where the server was a mess. Then he wanted to sell it to us for $500! Titan started this and here we be.

The one thing I never liked about the old site was it was a total untrusting dictatorship (no user admins or mods). When he wasn't around there wasn't anything anyone could do if forum was spammed or flamed. First thing I did was to make this forum able to run and defend itself no matter who was here. I turned it into a group ownership thing and it's worked so far. We'd all have to totally lose interest for it to fail and that's not going to happen, there's always going to be someone in control manning this boat. If the forum host were to ever go out of business we'd just move on and post a new link on the NR wiki and our site MySpace. :)

That's all true. This site is pretty much always policed by one of us to make sure that things stay intact.
