QUESTION ABOUT NEW RADICALS
Hi I'm Rainier from the Philippines, and I really like this band! but, I don't know what's the meaning of "New Radicals"!? is it "young admirables" or something? :D

Welcome to our group. A "Radical" is usually one who challenges existing views and works to make extreme changes. In our US culture (and elsewhere) we've always had "radical" viewpoints which is of course what brings on the evolution of any society really. Many people with "radical" opinions would be silenced by conservative or traditional people. However in the 1960's and 70's more people voiced "radical" viewpoints in order to change many things about our country that were long overdue for change and to pro-*test*-('") a war that many felt we shouldn't be a part of. While being a "radical" isn't always popular, people of all opinions must always be considered in order to bring an understanding of each other. My impression of the group name "New Radicals" has always been the new or next generation of people who are willing to take on status quo and make changes to improve our quality of life.

The term radical also has a negative connotation, maybe not as much as extremist or terrorist, but certainly going in that direction. Somewhat extreme views, possibly willing to use violence, etc. Oh, and while the term can be used for both left and right political views, it refers to left-wing politics here.

I thougth the word "Radical" is a slang word meaning "ADMIRABLE"!? so, I thought, the meaning of the groupname "new radicals" is Admirable young musicians :D

Well, ya. It kind of means that too. As an adjective, not a noun. Like wow, Gregg Alexander is totally radical.

Sometimes you are only as imprisioned as you think you are. But then again you just explained yourself pretty much how being a radical works. If you think its a horrible world (and it can be) then you can be the one to change it. Radical is about being extreme...if you see the world as wrong and you want to make it right then you feel extreme changes are needed. Maybe you can be the visionary to make that happen. Remember one thing about society...a world run by imperfect people can only screw up! But best wishes I'm cheering for you! :)

I believe, this world is gonna pull through, just don't give up!
