The Frays and Gregg Alexander connection? Has anyone else noticed the similarity in style on The Fray's song, "How to Save a Life"?
When I first heard it on the air I was enthused that perhaps Gregg had a song on the charts.
Is there a connection between the 2?

lol,
yeah, sometimes i can judge from listening to the music too without taking a look at who made the song. like Mel C's Horizon, very Gregg style.

I couldn't find anything. :ninja:
I personally don't hear a direct connection, however there is a run of good alternative pop going on that you could've seen Gregg being a part of.
The Fray
Coldplay
Keane
The Killers
Snow Patrol
a few others

I really don't get why Gregg just can't put together another band, even if he's not actually in it, he can write their stuff and be totally in control of what gets released. Instead we're left with this hit and miss affair, where his tracks are totally at the mercy of his client's record companies. Although he's probably getting paid it's not the at the same level as if his tracks were release and became hits. Sad all round really. :(

thought one of those reasons NR disbanded was he doesn't prefer working under pressure?
i bet everyone would like to do his career in a cheerful mood, Gregg too. 8)

That would be the equivalant of him putting together something like the Spice Girls or a manufactured musical act.
You're right its really a waste. Only Gregg can be certain what his career needs are, if he is ok with things the way they are, then hey, so be it. He likely achieved his greatest career success with a song that he didn't personally record a few years back. You might think that would've increased his demand as a writer producer, but it turned into his climax.
Since 2002, musical tastes have changed a bit again. All things come around again and I think we'll hear from Gregg in a big way again at some point in time. Its gonna take the right person and the right situation, but it will happen.

I was thinking more NR without Gregg than Spice Girls, then again NR were manufactured around Gregg so it's a fine line. It's, well to me anyway, like the difference between white bread and rye. You're right though, there's nothing stopping him other than himself. :)

To me NR without Gregg isn't NR. Even if he was writing all the songs it's just not the same without his whiny vocals.

I seriously doubt he'll ever be in another band, let alone revive NR, but we can live in hope. :?

:dont: :mybbts:
It's not like being in a band is his only option, he could put out music via the internet...if he wanted to and if he knew how to use it... :?

Kind of funny he's not into the internet or computers considering the industry he's in is totally moving that way. He's really got no excuse not to move with the times, even more when there are more and more senior citizens than ever going online. Not that he's old, he's barely younger than a few of us here as is.
Another thing's recently hit me, comparing both Gregg's and Danielle's BMI codices, Danielle by far has written the most. Well, those that made being registered. :?

A couple of years ago it was the other way around. He really hasn't done that much the last 3 years or so while Danielle seems to be working more than ever.
